The Making of...

Much of this project consisted of retrieving the dialogue files, cleaning them up, and then transforming them into what you can see on these pages. While there is still much to do, feel free to look through the files here!

Extraction

Extracting the files was, unfortunately, not as simple as dragging the some files into a folder. What you get when you do something like that is the visual equivalent of a heat stroke (it's all HEX code). Fortunately, there exist solutions for this, one being Asset Ripper! This tool, meant for extracting game assets out of Unity projects like Hollow Knight, is what enabled me to easily retrieve whatever text was available.

Cleaning Up

Here are a couple of the transform files used on the collection of dialogue! The left one is thanks to our professor Dr. Beshero-Bondar helping me out with clean-up and the right one is my own work.
